Enzymes for health and vitality

beans_greenEnzymes are the key to the body’s amazing ability to heal itself, according to Dr. Shinya Hiromi, a respected gastroenterologist in both the United States and Japan, in his book “The Enzyme Factor.”

Enzymes are microscopic packets of protein energy that enable all bodily functions. When these enzymes get depleted, we get sick. When they are replenished, we get well, says Dr. Hiromi. Dr. Shinya believes that a healthy gastrointestinal system is important to overall good health. He notes that one commonality among people with good gastrointestinal characteristics is that they eat a lot of fresh foods containing many enzymes. This not only means consuming enzymes from the outside, but also creating an intestinal environment conducive to intestinal bacteria’s actively producing enzymes.

Dr. Shinya indicates that an ideal meal consists of 85% from plants and 15% from animals. He recommends consuming fish as the animal protein. Habitual use of alcohol and tobacco, overeating, eating food containing food additives, stressful environments, use of pharmaceutical drugs, exposure to ultraviolet rays and electromagnetic waves, eating foods like meat, dairy, margarine, and fried foods – i.e. foods that produce toxins in the colon – all exhaust large numbers of enzymes.

As they say, The proof is in the pudding. Dr. Shinya claims that none of his cancer patients who followed his enzyme-rich diet and lifestyle program ever had a relapse.
